Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

TakeTips collects information to provide better services to our users. This includes:

  • Account Information: Name, email address, and profile picture when you sign up.
  • DJ Profile Information: Your stage name, biography, and social media links.
  • Event Data: Details about your events, such as names, dates, and locations.
  • Requests and Messages: Song requests, tips, and messages submitted by your fans.
  • Payment Information: We use Stripe to process payments. We do not store your credit card details. Stripe is a secure, PCI-compliant payment processor.
  • Usage Data: We collect analytics on how you use our service to help us improve it.
  • Geolocation Data: When a fan visits a DJ's request page, we use their IP address to determine an approximate location (city, region, and country). This data is linked to the associated transaction and used for analytics purposes only. No precise GPS location is collected.
  • Device and Browser Information: We collect browser name and operating system for each transaction to help diagnose issues, detect fraud, and understand how our service is accessed.
  • Partial Payment Method Details: We store the last 4 digits of a card and the payment method type (e.g., Apple Pay, Google Pay, card) alongside transaction records for earnings reporting and support purposes. We do not store full card numbers, CVV codes, or expiry dates.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To provide, operate, and maintain our services.
  • To process payments, tips, and payouts securely.
  • To communicate with you, including responding to your comments, questions, and requests, and providing customer service and support.
  • To improve our services, develop new features, and understand how our users interact with the platform.
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

Your information is used strictly for internal app functionality and is never sold to third-party sources. We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise monetize your personal information, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles for others.

3. Fan and Patron Information

Fans and patrons can submit song requests and tips without creating a TakeTips account. When you do, we handle your information as follows:

  • What you provide: Your name, song request, and message, plus any optional details you choose to add, such as an email address, phone number, or social media handle.
  • Who sees it: Your request details are shared with the DJ, Musician, or Influencer you are requesting from so they can view and respond to your request. They are not shown publicly or to other fans.
  • Why we use it: To deliver your request, process any optional tip, prevent fraud and abuse, and provide earnings reporting to the DJ. Fan and patron information is used only to operate the Service, is never sold to third parties, and is never shared with Meta or any other advertising platform.
  • Tipping is optional: You never need to tip or provide payment details to submit a request where the DJ offers free requests. If you do tip, your card details are handled by Stripe, not stored by TakeTips.
  • Payment providers: Tips made by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Cash App Pay are processed by Stripe. To complete the payment, we share your name, email address (if provided), and tip amount with Stripe. We do not receive or store your Cash App account details.
  • Off-platform payments: If you pay a DJ directly outside of TakeTips (for example, with cash or Zelle), that payment is handled between you and the DJ, or by that provider under its own privacy policy. TakeTips does not receive or store any details of off-platform payments.
  • Deleting your request data: You may contact us to request access to or deletion of the information you submitted with a request, as described in Section 6.

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We only share information in the following circumstances:

  • With Your Consent: We may share information if you give us explicit permission to do so.
  • For Payment Processing: We share necessary information with Stripe to process transactions and payouts.
  • Legal Compliance: We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process.
  • To Protect Rights and Safety: We may share information to protect the rights, property, or safety of TakeTips, our users, or the public.
  • CAPTCHA Provider (Cloudflare Turnstile): To protect against automated abuse, we use Cloudflare Turnstile on signup, login, and request submission forms. Cloudflare may collect limited interaction data as part of this verification. Please refer to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy for details.
  • Advertising Measurement (Meta Pixel and Conversions API): On certain TakeTips marketing and signup pages intended for DJs, Musicians, and Influencers (such as our application page), we use Meta's Pixel and Conversions API to measure and improve our own advertising. When you visit or submit an application on these pages, Meta may receive your browser and device information, IP address, Meta cookie identifiers, the pages you view, and hashed (encrypted) versions of the email address, name, and city you provide. This information is used exclusively to optimize advertising performance for TakeTips. We do not receive any payment or other compensation from Meta for it. These tools are never used on fan request or tipping pages, and fan and patron request data is never sent to Meta. You can manage how Meta uses this data in your Facebook ad preferences; see Meta's Privacy Policy for details.
  • Social Identity Providers (Google, Facebook): If you choose to link a Google or Facebook account to your TakeTips profile, we receive your name, email address, profile picture, and a public profile identifier from that provider solely to create and authenticate your account. We do not post to your social accounts or access any data beyond what is required for login.

5. Data Security

We are committed to protecting your data. We implement industry-standard security measures, including:

  • Encryption of sensitive data both in transit and at rest.
  • Use of secure HTTPS connections for all data transfers.
  • Regular security audits and vulnerability scanning.
  • Strict access controls to ensure only authorized personnel can access personal information.

6. Your Rights

You have rights over your personal data. You can:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request that we correct any inaccurate data.
  • Request that we delete your data.
  • Export your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Opt-out of marketing communications at any time.
